Job summary

Jefferson Center for Mental Health is seeking a Milieu Staff (Residential Counselor) to manage milieu, deliver psychoeducation groups for children/youth, and help ensure safety in the Crisis Stabilization Unit. The role emphasizes interdisciplinary teamwork within a mission-driven setting.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (Bachelor's preferred), 1 year of human services experience or 2 years of college, and relevant certifications (CPI, QMAP, CPR/First Aid).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1 year in human services or 2 years of college.
• Experience in mental health inpatient/residential settings preferred.
• Ability to facilitate group activities and document well.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Provide milieu management, guidance, safety, stability and direction to youth.
• Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance.
• De-escalate potentially dangerous situations with youth and families.
• Administer CPI and maintain necessary certifications.
• Document admissions, notes, discharges, MOR, AIRs and inventories.
• Monitor vital signs and assist with BP when nurse is unavailable.
• Administer medications per QMAP standards.
• Plan and supervise client activities and groups.
• Coordinate referrals for ongoing treatment after discharge.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff on meals and snacks.
