The Residential Counselor role delivers wellness and recovery-oriented case management and direct resident support at Maud Residence in Plainfield, NJ.

Responsibilities include skill development, supportive counseling, transportation, crisis intervention, medication assistance, and collaboration with a treatment

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in a mental health, health or related human services field or equivalent.
• License as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Practical Nurse (LPN) with related experience may satisfy requirements.
• Combination of college and work experience totaling four years is acceptable.
• If the four-year degree does not meet requirements, at least one year related experience is needed.
• A valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record is required.

Responsabilidades

• On-site supervision and support including teaching, modeling, and aiding with ADLs.
• Communicate observations to program manager and treatment team.
• Supervise and support recreational and social activities for residents.
• Provide transportation for residents.
• Assist residents in self-administration of medications.
• Engage in residential counseling and crisis intervention as appropriate.
• Participate in development of individualized habilitation plans and assessments.
• Document observations and services in progress notes.
• Cooperate with state staff during inspections or investigations.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Position: Residential Counselor

The Residential Counselor is responsible to deliver wellness and recovery-oriented case management and support services to service recipients in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Human Services-Division of Mental Health and Addictions Services regulations. The residential counselor provides support directly to the residents, including but not limited to: skill development, supportive counseling, transportation, crisis intervention, assistance with task completion, vocational and social support.

Plainfield, New Jersey 07062 (Union County)

Minimum Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health, health or other appropriate human services related discipline; a license as a registered nurse; a combination of one or more years of college, plus related work or life experience together equaling four years.
• The individual is required to have at least one year of related work or life experience if the four-year college degree does not meet the requirements above.
• A license as a practical nurse plus two years of related work or life experience or a high school diploma or the equivalent, plus four years of related work or life experience.
• This position shall also have a valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record that meets agency procedures.

Residential Counselor Principal Responsibilities:

• On-site consumer resident supervision or support including but not limited teaching, behavioral modeling, assistance to complete ADL’s, and other tasks.
• Communicating observations and information about the consumer resident to the program manager, RN, DDD case manager and other treatment team members.
• Supervising, organizing and supporting recreational and/or socialization activities for consumers.
• Transportation
• Assist consumers in the self-administration of medication.
• Residential counseling
• Crisis intervention services (but not including crisis intervention counseling)
• Participation in the development of the individual habilitation plan and other required assessments.
• Participation in individual service coordination activities.
• Documenting observations, information and services provided to the consumer resident in progress notes.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Cooperate with Volunteers of America and/or State of New Jersey Division staff in any inspection and/or investigation.
