Residential Construction Laborer
Location: Bethel Park, PA (Daily travel to residential job sites throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area.)
Build Your Construction Career on High-Quality Residential Projects
AKN Interiors is a fast-growing design-build remodeling company specializing in custom kitchens, bathrooms, basements, whole-home renovations, additions, and detailed interior remodeling. Every project is professionally designed and supported by architectural or technical drawings, an assigned Project Manager, and an organized office team.
We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Residential Construction Laborer to support our carpenters, Project Managers, and other field team members on residential remodeling projects throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, wants steady year-round employment, and is interested in developing broader construction and remodeling skills. You will work alongside experienced tradespeople on customized residential projects rather than repetitive production construction.
The right person takes pride in being reliable, works safely, keeps jobsites organized, follows direction well, and is willing to learn. Previous construction or remodeling experience is preferred, but we will consider candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, a good work ethic, and the right attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist carpenters and other skilled team members with residential remodeling work in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, and other interior spaces.
- Perform demolition and carefully remove cabinets, flooring, drywall, fixtures, trim, and other existing materials as directed.
- Load, unload, move, stage, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Assist with basic framing, drywall, flooring, cabinetry, trim, painting, and other remodeling tasks based on experience and training.
- Prepare work areas before construction activities begin.
- Protect floors, furniture, finishes, and other areas of clients' homes before and during construction.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized jobsites throughout the workday.
- Remove construction debris and assist with dumpster loading and jobsite cleanup.
- Assist with material pickups, deliveries, and movement between job sites when needed.
- Use basic hand tools and power tools safely and properly.
- Set up and break down tools, equipment, ladders, temporary protection, and work areas.
- Follow architectural drawings, project instructions, and directions provided by the assigned Project Manager or lead carpenter.
- Identify jobsite conditions or potential problems and communicate them promptly to the appropriate team member.
- Help maintain and care for company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials.
- Follow company safety procedures and all applicable jobsite requirements.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with coworkers, subcontractors, Project Managers, and homeowners.
- Assist with punch-list items and final project cleanup.
- Help deliver a finished project that meets AKN Interiors' standards for quality, cleanliness, and client experience.

- Previous residential construction, remodeling, carpentry, demolition, maintenance, or comparable hands-on experience is preferred.
- Experience with kitchen and bathroom remodeling is an asset but is not required.

- Ability and willingness to learn new construction skills and take direction from experienced team members.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and consistent attendance.
- Ability to arrive at job sites on time and prepared to work.
- Strong attention to detail and respect for clients' homes and property.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work productively without constant supervision once a task has been explained.
- Willingness to perform a wide range of construction-related tasks as project needs change.
- Comfortable working in occupied homes and maintaining a professional appearance and attitude around homeowners.
- Comfortable working in a technology-forward company and using mobile applications for project communication, scheduling, time tracking, or documentation.
- Experience using JobTread or another construction-management platform is an asset but is not required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Ability to travel directly to job sites throughout Greater Pittsburgh, including areas such as Robinson, Wexford, Fox Chapel, Sewickley, Upper St. Clair, Mount Lebanon, Squirrel Hill, and Shadyside.
- Willingness to travel between multiple job sites in the same day when needed.

- Ability to safely perform physical construction work in active remodeling environments.
- Comfortable working in conditions that may occasionally involve dust, noise, temperature changes, and demolition debris.
Experience is valuable, but attitude and reliability matter. Candidates who are mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and interested in building a long-term career in residential construction are encouraged to apply.
