Job summary

Caldwell Homes in Houston is seeking a detail-oriented Residential Construction Estimator to support our estimating and purchasing operations. You will develop accurate construction costs, review plans and specifications, prepare quantity takeoffs, and evaluate bids to ensure budgets align with designs and market pricing.

This onsite role collaborates with Purchasing, Construction, Design, and Accounting to ensure complete scopes and reliable bids.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years in residential construction estimating or related field.
• Familiar with BRIX System.
• Ability to read plans and specifications.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs and bid comparisons.
• Strong math, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in Excel, Outlook; highly organized and detail oriented.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Houston-area production homebuilding knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from plans and specs.
• Develop estimates for materials, labor, and trade scopes.
• Review estimates for accuracy and alignment with standards.
• Update estimates when plans or market conditions change.
• Solicit, compare, and communicate with trade partners and suppliers.
• Support cross-functional teams to ensure complete scopes and reliable bids.
