Job summary

Caldwell Homes is seeking a detail-oriented Residential Construction Estimator to support estimating and purchasing operations in Minnesota. You will develop accurate costs, review plans, prepare quantity takeoffs, and evaluate bids from trade partners and suppliers.

The role requires collaboration with Purchasing, Construction, Design, Accounting, and trade partners to keep budgets current. This onsite position offers regular hours and opportunities to contribute to homebuilding across multiple

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–5 years of experience in residential construction estimating or related fields.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, engineering drawings, and specifications.
• Experience preparing quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid comparisons.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and standard business applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from plans, documents, and design selections.
• Maintain accurate estimates for materials, labor, trade scopes, and construction costs.
• Review estimates for completeness and alignment with company standards.
• Update estimates when plans or market conditions change; identify cost discrepancies.
• Support pricing, bid comparisons, and cost analyses across projects.
