Job summary

MINNESOTA CITY JOBS is seeking a Housing/Building Inspector to manage the Time of Sale program and perform inspections to ensure compliance with building, plumbing, and mechanical codes. The role involves coordinating with homeowners, contractors, and other stakeholders to uphold code requirements and technical standards.

Collaboration with the Administrative Assistant II Permits and Licensing, and with the City Planner, ensures that building permit applications comply with zoning regulations.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma equivalent plus post-secondary training in building trades.
• Extensive experience with residential, commercial, and industrial construction.
• Must be able to obtain Minnesota Building Official certification within six months.

Responsibilities

• Manage the city's Time of Sale program and conduct inspections.
• Enforce building, plumbing, and mechanical codes and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with homeowners, contractors, and stakeholders to enforce codes.
• Support Administrative Assistant II Permits and Licensing and coordinate with the City Planner on permit applications.
