Job summary

National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in Washington, DC, seeks a Program Manager, Codes & Standards, to advocate for building codes and standards affecting public health and housing affordability. You will represent NAHB in ICC code development and serve on standards committees addressing electrical, fire safety, accessibility, egress, and structural topics.

The role involves preparing technical proposals, presenting testimony, and collaborating with NAHB committees to influence policy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, material science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Five years of experience in residential building design/construction and/or building code compliance.
• Ability to review technical basis of codes, communicate complex issues clearly, and offer cost-effective solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and collaboration ability.
• Willingness to travel to hearings, meetings, and workshops.
• Prior code development or standards committee experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical proposals supporting NAHB policy resolutions.
• Deliver testimony on behalf of the association.
• Maintain relationships with code/standards development orgs and industry stakeholders.
• Assist NAHB members and staff with code adoption, interpretation, and enforcement issues; create blog posts and webinars.
• Create resources to keep NAHB as a premier source of information on residential construction.
