Job summary

National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in Washington, DC, seeks a Program Manager, Codes & Standards, to advocate for building codes and standards affecting public health and housing affordability. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, material science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of experience in residential building design/construction and/or building code compliance.
  • Ability to review technical basis of codes, communicate complex issues clearly, and offer cost-effective solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and collaboration ability.
  • Willingness to travel to hearings, meetings, and workshops.
  • Prior code development or standards committee experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical proposals supporting NAHB policy resolutions.
  • Deliver testimony on behalf of the association.
  • Maintain relationships with code/standards development orgs and industry stakeholders.
  • Assist NAHB members and staff with code adoption, interpretation, and enforcement issues; create blog posts and webinars.
  • Create resources to keep NAHB as a premier source of information on residential construction.
