Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a route-based CDL driver to deliver and exchange residential carts across local neighborhoods in North Carolina. You will perform site and equipment inspections, ensuring safe cart placement and compliant vehicle checks.

The role involves loading/unloading, interacting with customers, and navigating routes with GPS for safe operation. Ideal candidates have a CDL, a clean driving record, and comfort working outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Deliver & Retrieve: Drive assigned pickup trucks with trailers or ancillary equipment along local routes to deliver, exchange, or collect residential carts.
• Site & Equipment Inspections: Evaluate customer curbsides for safe placement and perform pre- and post-trip vehicle condition inspections to keep equipment running smoothly.
• Load & Unload: Safely move carts to and from trailers manually or using forklifts.
• Be the Face of GFL: Courteously interact with residential customers and the public along your route to answer questions or elevate concerns to management.
• Route & Safety Tracking: Use GPS and route sheets to efficiently navigate tight clearance spaces and back-up distances safely.
• Maintain Cleanliness: Clean loose debris around loading areas and uphold safe, clean operations in compliance with company and safety regulations.

• Deliver & Retrieve: Drive assigned pickup trucks with trailers or ancillary equipment along local routes to deliver, exchange, or collect residential carts.
• Site & Equipment Inspections: Evaluate customer curbsides for safe placement and perform pre- and post-trip vehicle condition inspections to keep equipment running smoothly.
• Load & Unload: Safely move carts to and from trailers manually or using forklifts.
• Be the Face of GFL: Courteously interact with residential customers and the public along your route to answer questions or elevate concerns to management.
• Route & Safety Tracking: Use GPS and route sheets to efficiently navigate tight clearance spaces and backup distances (up to 120+ feet) safely.
• Maintain Cleanliness: Clean loose debris around loading areas and uphold safe, clean operations in compliance with company and safety regulations.

What We’re Looking For (Requirements)

• High school diploma or GED equivalent desired.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one.
• A clean, satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to safely maneuver trucks in high-traffic and narrow spaces.
• Physical capability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, and repetitively lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Comfort working outdoors 100% of the time in varying weather conditions (rain, heat, cold).
