Job summary

State of Ohio is seeking a Residential Care Supervisor 1 for the Mid Shift at Warrensville Developmental Center in Highland Hills, OH. This full-time role supervises Therapeutic Program Workers and manages daily staffing operations on a 10:00 am–6:30 pm schedule.

You will coach staff, ensure implementation of Individual Program Plans, monitor documentation, and maintain compliance with Medicaid (ICF/IID) standards.

Qualifications

• 24 months training or 24 months experience in providing care to patients and/or participation in development and/or carrying out patients' habilitation plans, preferably with developmental disabilities.
• Background check required; may involve disqualifying offenses.
• Urinalysis prior to appointment for drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Supervise & lead direct care staff across assigned residential areas & shifts.
• Manage daily staffing operations including scheduling, overtime, leave approvals, and coverage needs.
• Coach, train, and evaluate staff; provide feedback and initiate corrective actions.
• Assign daily duties, coordinate transportation, and ensure coverage for appointments and activities.
• Ensure implementation of Individual Program Plans and behavioral support plans through supervision.
• Promote active treatment and ensure quality services are delivered consistently.
• Monitor documentation, incident reports, and staff records for accuracy and compliance.
• Investigate incidents and required reports; address workplace issues.
• Address employee relations matters at the first-step level, including grievances.
• Ensure compliance with Medicaid standards, agency policies, and labor agreements.
• Maintain inventory, approve purchases, and ensure supplies and equipment are available.
• Conduct environmental and safety checks; submit work orders as needed.

Job Description

A Residential Care Supervisor 1 provides supervision to our Therapeutic Program Workers (TPWs) at our Developmental Centers (DCs).

Key Residential Care Supervisor 1 Tasks:

• Supervise & lead direct care staff (Therapeutic Program Workers) across assigned residential areas & shifts
• Manage daily staffing operations including scheduling, overtime, leave approvals, & coverage needs
• Coach, train, & evaluate staff; provide feedback & initiate corrective action when needed
• Assign daily duties, coordinate transportation, & ensure coverage for appointments, outings, & activities
• Ensure implementation of Individual Program Plans (PCPs) & behavioral support plans through active supervision & rounding
• Promote active treatment & ensure quality services are delivered consistently
• Monitor documentation, incident reports, & staff records for accuracy & compliance
• Investigate incidents, workplace injuries, policy violations, & unusual incidents; complete required reports
• Address employee relations matters at the first-step level, including resolving grievances
• Ensure compliance with Medicaid (ICF/IID) standards, agency policies, & labor agreements
• Maintain inventory, approve purchases, & ensure supplies & equipment are available
• Conduct environmental & safety checks; submit work orders as needed

Qualifications

24 months training or 24 months experience in providing care to patients and/or in participating in development and/or carrying out of patients' habilitation plans and preferably for those who had developmental disabilities or mental disability, and in implementing & carrying out same. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

May be exposed to unpredictable resident behavior. Developmental centers operate 24/7, year-round.

• The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Rule 5123-2-02, “Background Investigations for Employment,” outlines disqualifying offenses that will preclude an applicant from being employed by the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
