Job summary

Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities' Northwest Ohio Developmental Center in Toledo, OH is seeking a supervisory role over direct care staff on the 9pm–7am shift. The role focuses on policy implementation, staff oversight, and ensuring quality resident care.

Responsibilities include reviewing behavior and incident records, maintaining documentation, participating in Individual Habilitation Plan meetings, census reporting, and ensuring a safe, compliant living environment for residents.

Qualifications

  • At least 24 months of training or experience providing care to patients and/or participating in development and carrying out patients’ habilitation plans, preferably for those with developmental or mental disabilities.
  • Equivalent minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE: In the developmental center, under the Department of Developmental Disabilities, for at least one module, cottage, house, multiple living area or residential building, on at least one assigned shift, supervisory duties include overseeing direct care personnel (e.g., Hospital Aide Coordinators, Therapeutic Program Workers), participating as a team member in policy development and implementation of work rules, ensuring compliance with Medicaid standards and labor contract rules, resolving labor disputes at the first step level, referring employees to the Employee Assistance Program Coordinator, training and in‑servicing staff on new policies and procedures, monitoring implementation of Individual Habilitation Plans, completing and signing employee performance evaluations, ensuring attendance of direct care staff at team meetings, and maintaining adequate staff coverage. Responsibilities also involve reviewing written documentation related to resident behavior, progress, incident reports, and other records; processing staff incident reports; checking staff log books; maintaining written documentation for assigned residents; and ensuring staff compliance with all rules and regulations. Additional duties include participating in Individual Habilitation Program/Plan meetings, attending unit managers' meetings, reviewing restraint records, completing census reports, investigating major incidents, relieving supervisors of other units upon request, and maintaining supplies and equipment.
