Job summary

Gloucester Charities Trust is seeking a Chef to join our catering team at Magdalen House, a CQC-regulated residential home for older people. You will prepare nutritious, appetising meals under the supervision of the Chef Manager, supporting health, wellbeing and enjoyment of daily life.

We offer 36.75 hours per week on a two‑week rota, 7.30am–6.30pm with alternate weekends, join a supportive team, and access training, DBS, and employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Chef or similar catering role.
• Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 certified or willing to obtain.
• Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and dietary requirements.
• Organised, reliable, and able to work under pressure.
• Strong teamwork and communication.
• Passionate about providing excellent food for older people.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present meals to a high standard.
• Support Chef Manager in delivering a varied and nutritious menu.
• Cater for special dietary requirements and texture-modified diets.
• Ensure all food is prepared and served safely and hygienically.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with food safety regulations.
• Complete food temperature checks and cleaning schedules.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, and reducing waste.
• Support Kitchen Assistants and collaborate with the care home team.
• Contribute to specials, events, and resident celebrations.
