Job summary

Pittsburgh Mercy, a trusted community-based health and human services organization, is seeking a Residential Care Advisor to support adults with intellectual disabilities and serious mental illness in our Wilkinsburg residential site. You will mentor staff, apply strengths-based practices, and help residents stay engaged through on-site and community activities.

The role emphasizes health and well-being support, daily collaboration with a diverse team, and opportunities to help residents

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree OR HS Diploma/Equivalent and 1 year of direct care experience.
• Valid Driver license.
• Ability to drive an organizational vehicle.
• Act 33/34/73 clearances.
• Pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance and training to adults with Intellectual Disabilities/Serious Mental Illness in residential locations.
• Mentor and develop a team using strengths-based approaches and positive practices.
• Work in a 56 bed Personal Care Home in Wilkinsburg, PA, on a bus line.
• Perform daily tasks to ensure residents' health and well-being and engage with residents on site and in the community.
• Support residents’ social well-being through activities, shopping, trips, and community participation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Our Residential Care Advisors provide assistance and training to adults with Intellectual Disabilities/Serious Mental Illness in our residential treatment locations.

• We’re looking for people who have experience developing and mentoring a team, and who believe in a strengths-based approach, and use positive practices to help guide their everyday activities.

• This position will work in a 56 bed Personal Care Home located in a neighborhood setting in Wilkinsburg, PA., conveniently located on a bus line.

• While required daily tasks to ensure the health and well-being of the residents and site are of utmost importance, this position offers many opportunities to engage with the residents both on site and out in the community.

• Along with daily interactions and conversations, staff are highly encouraged to help support the residents’ well-being through socialization, developing and encouraging participation of both and on and off-site activities, shopping, trips, and other activities that support their social and personal well-being.
