Job summary

Pittsburgh Mercy is seeking a dedicated individual to support residents with Serious Mental Illness at our Carnegie location. The role involves providing training, promoting a strengths-based approach, and maintaining residents’ health and well-being through daily care and community activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services or equivalent with 1 year direct care experience.
• Valid driver’s license to operate the organization vehicle.
• Clearances required under Act 33/34/73 prior to employment.
• Pre-employment drug screening is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance and training to individuals with Serious Mental Illness in Carnegie residential location.
• Demonstrate strengths-based approaches and mentor a care team.
• Perform daily tasks to support residents’ health, safety and well-being on site and in the community.
• Facilitate social activities and community outings to promote well-being.
• Engage with a small, diverse group of residents to make a positive impact.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• This position will provide assistance and training to individuals with Serious Mental Illness in our residential treatment Carnegie location.
• We’re looking for people who have experience developing and mentoring a team, and who believe in a strengths-based approach, and use positive practices to help guide their everyday activities.
• .While required daily tasks to ensure the health and well-being of the residents and site are of utmost importance, this position offers many opportunities to engage with the residents both on site and out in the community.
• Along with daily interactions and conversations, staff are highly encouraged to help support the resident’s well-being through socialization, developing and encouraging participation of both and on and off-site activities, shopping, trips, and other activities that support their social and personal well-being.
