Overview:
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for ensuring that camp is safe, well maintained, and visually appealing during the summer camp season. The Maintenance Assistant supports the Janitor and reports to the Property Manager.
Specific Duties:
Maintenance Assistant Specific Tasks
- Maintain campgrounds to be aesthetically pleasing and usable throughout the summer.
- Assist the Property Manager in repairing issues on camp
- Keep Property Manager’s area and equipment clean and safe
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Assist the Janitor in maintaining cleanliness of all public areas on camp such as bathrooms
- Provide deep cleaning of public areas before each session
- Report facility issues to the Property Manager promptly
- Use hands and fingers to complete duties
- Stand, walk, kneel, sit for long periods as needed
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
General Camp Tasks
- Follow all camp rules and ensure staff and campers do the same
- Abide by the Personnel Policies & Procedures of the ULBGC Camp
- Comply with all State of Wisconsin, American Camp Association, and other certifying body guidelines
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Work collaboratively with a team, open to feedback, and eager to grow professionally
- Maintain high energy, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic each day
Trainings and Meetings
- Receive training from the Property Manager on specific duties and safety protocols
- Check in daily with the Property Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Ensure proper use of equipment by staff and report issues to the Property Manager or Camp Director
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Passion for providing a positive camp experience
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Good follow-through on tasks
- Ability to communicate in Spanish
- For Nurses: hold a Wisconsin Nursing license or be able to attain it
- For Cooks: hold a Serve Safe Manager certificate or be able to attain it
