Overview

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for ensuring that camp is safe, well maintained, and visually appealing during the summer camp season. The Maintenance Assistant supports the Janitor and reports to the Property Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain campgrounds to be aesthetically pleasing and usable throughout the summer.
  • Assist the Property Manager in repairing issues on camp.
  • Keep Property Manager’s area and equipment clean and safe.
  • Assist the Janitor in maintaining cleanliness of all public areas on camp, such as bathrooms.
  • Provide deep cleaning of public areas before each session.
  • Report facility issues to the Property Manager in a timely manner.
  • Use hands and fingers to complete duties.
  • Stand, walk, kneel, sit for long periods.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
General Camp Tasks
  • Follow all camp rules and ensure staff and campers do the same.
  • Abide by Personnel Policies & Procedures of ULBGC Camp.
  • Follow all State of Wisconsin, American Camp Association, and other certifying body guidelines.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work collaboratively, be open to feedback, and seek professional growth.
  • Maintain a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and strong work ethic.
Training and Meetings
  • Receive training from the Property Manager on job duties and safety.
  • Check in daily with the Property Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Ensure proper use of equipment by staff and alert management of issues.
  • Perform other assigned tasks.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Passion for providing a positive camp experience.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good follow-through on tasks.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.
  • Nurse: hold Wisconsin Nursing license or ability to attain it.
  • Cook: hold Serve Safe Manager certificate or ability to attain it.
