For almost 20 years, Avid4 Adventure has empowered kids to live active outdoor lifestyles through our unique outdoor programming. The Kitchen Manager/Head Chef will lead the dining service operations at each camp by managing top-quality food and workplace safety for up to one hundred and fifty people. The Food Services Manager will work with the Assistant Director of Operations to ensure that all aspects of our food service are top-notch and responsive to seasonal feedback.

Candidates will be considered for multiple kitchen positions, including Head Chef and Kitchen Supervisor roles, depending on experience and skills. All roles and responsibilities will be discussed during the interview process.

Core Responsibilities of the Food Service Manager:
Safety First
  • Oversee safety and risk management of kitchen operations to maintain an efficient, clean kitchen
  • Manage dietary restrictions to ensure variety and adequacy for all campers and staff
  • Ensure kitchen compliance with state regulations
Stellar Experience
  • Prepare and serve delicious, nutritious meals for campers and staff
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to manage different programs, including expeditions, continental breakfasts, and special events
  • Coordinate with the Assistant Director of Operations on food orders
  • Engage with campers and staff to enhance the camp experience
Passionate Staff
  • Lead and manage the dining services team to foster cohesion, commitment, and enjoyment
  • Oversee staff scheduling to ensure fair coverage throughout the summer
Candidate Requirements:
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Experience leading a commercial kitchen and managing a team of 4-7 staff members
  • Basic/Community First Aid and CPR certification prior to camp start
  • ServSafe certification required; costs covered by the employer
Additional Details:
  • Work Schedule: 35-40 hours/week, with potential overtime. Overnight camps operate 24/7; schedules may vary to meet food service needs.
  • Position Duration: Training begins May 28; programs run from June 1 to August 2.
  • Compensation: Determined based on position, responsibilities, certifications, and tenure.
    • Head Chef: $18.51/hour
    • Kitchen Supervisor: $15.55/hour
  • Housing: On-site housing available, including sleeping arrangements, bathrooms, showers, and laundry. Room and board cost is $100/week ($400/month), covering all meals. Housing is optional for kitchen staff.
