Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a Building Inspector to perform inspections on new and existing residential structures to ensure compliance with applicable code and zoning ordinances. The role involves recording discrepancies, notifying owners and contractors, issuing stop orders for major violations, and conducting final inspections.

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience.
• Education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in industrial arts, business, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Inspects residential units for HVAC, plumbing, insulation, ventilation, safety and structural compliance.
• Records code violations, notifies owners and contractors, and issues stop orders when needed.
• Conducts final inspections to verify compliance and completes required paperwork.
• Installs devices and maintains inventory.
• Receives, investigates complaints about code or zoning and provides information.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
