Job summary

NOVA BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, INC. in Dayton, OH is seeking a Behavioral Health Counselor for our residential program.

You will provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling, assess clients, develop personalized treatment plans, and lead therapeutic sessions to promote emotional well-being and recovery. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, document progress, and support clients and families with coping strategies and resources.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in treatment of Alcohol/Drug and Mental Health.
• Valid state licensure or certification as LPC or LSW (or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and ethical counseling practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse client populations.

Responsibilities

• Participate in case conferences or staff meetings.
• Support clients individually and in group therapy for addiction and related issues using evidence-based practices.
• Complete and maintain accurate client records and progress notes.
• Coordinate counseling with other health professionals.
• Provide non-admission contact and outreach activities.
• Consult with the Director regarding case conferences and outreach.
• Ensure compliance with program policies and goals for Nova programs.
• Perform household or milieu duties as needed.
