Job summary

Advantage Behavioral Health LLC. is seeking a Residential Counselor to provide direct support in a mental health residential setting. This role suits emerging professionals with a bachelor’s degree or near completion, offering hands-on clinical experience alongside licensed supervision.

You will assist with case management, daily living skills, and crisis intervention, while promoting a structured, therapeutic environment for clients and families served by the program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field is the primary qualifier for entry-level MHW status.
• Associate’s degree requires 3 years of mental health or human services experience.
• High school diploma requires 5 years of documented mental health experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ongoing case management tasks including appointments and discharge planning.
• Transport clients to appointments and activities maintaining therapeutic rapport.
• Support daily living skills and household responsibilities aligned with treatment goals.
• Document client interactions accurately per standards.
• Co-facilitate psychoeducational and skills-based groups under supervision.
• Assist clients with recovery goal setting and treatment plan progress.
• Conduct behavioral observations and report to clinical team.
• Participate in risk assessments and crisis intervention as needed.
• Provide one-on-one check-ins to reinforce coping skills and safety planning.
• Maintain structure in daily schedule and model recovery-oriented behavior.
• Assist with medication self-administration monitoring and safety concerns.
