Job summary

Zepf Center is seeking a Contingent Residential Behavior Specialist to help ensure resident safety, security of the facility, and continuity of program services during assigned hours. You will work with the House Manager and staff to support residents in activities and treatment plans.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, CPR/First Aid certification, and background checks. Prior experience with severe mental health disability is preferred; driving may require a valid license. EOE/M/F/V

• Medication experience preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Initial background check will be conducted to determine fitness to provide services.

Responsibilities

• Maintain residents' safety by monitoring and observing for any special precautions.
• Ensure building security and safety protocols are followed.
• Carry out treatment plans and ISP directives with residents.
• Assist residents in skill building and recreational activities per ISP.
• Monitor residents' completion of assigned tasks and follow-up actions.
• Document significant events in charts and logs.
• Perform household chores as needed (kitchen, cleaning, laundry).
• Respond to incidents and consult with supervisor as needed.
• Report maintenance issues to the House Manager.
• Participate in agency activities, meetings, and committees as required.

Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for over 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.

We are currently seeking a Contingent Residential Behavior Specialist. This person is responsible for the immediate safety of residents, security of facility and continuity of program services during designated hours. They will work closely with the House Manager and other direct care staff to assist residents in developing and implementing activities and recreational opportunities.

Hours: Various hours and shifts

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide for residents' safety by periodically checking on them and observing any special precautions that might be listed in the chart or logbook.
• Ensure security of the building.
• Carry out specific, applicable treatment plans with residents as listed in the ISP (Individual Service Plan).
• Interact with residents and assist them in skill building and recreational activities per ISP.
• Check on the residents' follow through on required assignments.
• Document significant events in the resident's chart and facility logbook.
• Perform cooking, cleaning chores as necessary such as straightening up kitchen, washing dishes, dusting, facility laundry, etc.
• Respond to and handle situations and/or consult with supervisor.
• Report maintenance problems to the House Manager.
• Carries out policy and procedures of the agency, may participate in community work, staff development, agency wide projects and serve on committees/teams. Attends meetings and performs other related duties as requested.

Requirements

• High school diploma and previous experience working with persons who have a severe mental health disability or, enrolled in an educational program in the social services/mental health field preferred.
• Medication experience preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Will be required to have an initial background check (includes information regarding any prior criminal convictions or pleas of guilty) to determine fitness to provide services to individuals served.
• Those eligible to drive company vehicles must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage as defined by the agency commercial insurance carrier. Those who drive personal vehicles in the course of business must be able to provide proof of insurance.
