Job summary

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Inc. is seeking a Residential Assistant (RA) to care for residents in its assisted living facilities under nursing supervision. The RA focuses on high-quality, compassionate, timely personal care and supports daily living activities.

The role includes responding to signals, assisting with meals and medications, helping with laundry, and maintaining a safe, clean resident environment as part of a broader care team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system to determine residents' needs.
  • Assists residents with specific needs involving their activities of daily living.
  • Assists residents with laundry.
  • Oversees residents' meal preparation in their rooms.
  • Assists residents with self-administration of medications.
  • Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, and answers the telephone.
  • Maintains physical environment in a clean, safe, and pleasant manner.
  • Performs other related activities as assigned or requested.

The Residential Assistant (RA) cares for residents in our assisted living facilities, under the direction of nursing staff and ensures that residents' personal care needs are provided for with an emphasis on quality, compassion, and timeliness.
