Job summary

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Inc. is seeking an Activity Assistant to help plan and implement engaging programs for residents. You will support the Activities Director, coordinate events inside and outside the facility, and foster social interaction among residents.

The role requires warmth, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to compassionate elder care. Some driving may be required, and CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Requires warmth, compassion and respect for older adults.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and planning creativity essential.
  • Must have driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance proof (Ohio).
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Activities Director in planning and carrying out resident programs.
  • Maintain documentation as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Aid activities inside and outside the facility to engage residents, including entertainment and religious events.
  • Facilitate social interaction among residents through group activities and recreation.
  • Encourage resident participation and work with volunteers in activity programs.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the monthly activity calendar.

The Activity Assistant performs duties involving the planning and implementation of activities which meet the needs of our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Assists the Activities Director in planning and carrying out a program of activities which meets the needs of the residents and will be made available to all residents.
  • Maintains documentation as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Assists with activities inside and outside the facility to stimulate and promote resident interest and participation, such as special entertainment, special holiday events, and religious activities.
  • Assists in providing social communication among residents through group activities and recreation.
  • Encourages residents to participate in activities.
  • Works with volunteers in various activity programs.
  • Assists in planning and preparing the monthly activity calendar.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must have a current Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record and proof of insurance. Must meet Driver Certification requirements.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate warmth, compassion and respect for older adults.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and creativity in planning activities.
  • Must be self-motivated, requiring minimum supervision.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification is preferred.
