Job summary

Jackson County, Missouri’s Assessment Department seeks a Property Appraiser to conduct field and office appraisals of residential, agricultural, special purpose properties and vacant parcels.

The role involves gathering and analyzing data on zoning, selling and asking prices, income and building costs to support accurate assessments, plus handling complaints and hearings recommendations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent is required.
• Two years of experience in Real Estate in appraisal, construction, sales, or experience with a mass appraisal computer system.
• Must possess/maintain valid Missouri Driver’s License.
• Must submit to and pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Make field and office appraisals of residential, agricultural, special purpose (condos, co-ops), and vacant properties.
• Gathers, records, maintains, and analyzes data such as zoning, selling and asking prices, income and building costs to make appraisals.
• Receives and investigates complaints about property assessments, makes reappraisals and submits recommendations at hearings.
