Job summary

The City of Roanoke is seeking an Appraiser II to appraise residential, multi-family and non-complex commercial/industrial real property in the City. The successful candidate will perform field appraisals, interview property owners, inspect properties, and determine proper value based on data from public records and site visits.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least three years of appraisal experience, plus a Virginia Driver’s license and Virginia Certified

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in real estate or related field is required.
• Three or more years of experience in real estate appraisals is required.
• Equivalent combo of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Makes field appraisals of residential, multi-family and non-complex properties.
• Interviews persons familiar with property and inspects properties to determine value.
• Measures buildings and collects data affecting values for appraisal analysis.
• Searches public records of sales, leases, assessments and other transactions.
• Hear appeals and may perform re-appraisals in hearings.
• Keeps abreast of local property trends and appraisal methods.
