Job summary

The City of Roanoke is seeking an Appraiser I to appraise residential and non-complex multi-family real property in the City. The successful candidate will conduct field appraisals, interview individuals familiar with properties, inspect sites, and review public records to determine proper value.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree with real estate/related coursework, a valid Virginia driver’s license, and a willingness to obtain the state license within 3 years.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in real estate, law, computer science or related field; related experience desirable but not required.
• Willing to obtain Virginia Certified Residential Appraiser license within 3 years of appointment.
• Valid Virginia driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Make field appraisals of residential and non-complex real property.
• Interview persons familiar with property; inspect property; search public records to determine value.
• Take measurements and collect data to support appraisal values.
• Process land valuations and apply data to parcels.
