We are seeking Residential Aides for our Transitional Housing shelter located in Queens. The Residential Aide will be the primary connection between the operations staff and the clients, spending a large amount of time with residents and assisting those who need hands-on support. They will also provide insight into the current atmosphere in the facility and relay any client complaints or recommendations.

Pay Rate: $16-$21/HR

Responsibilities consist of but are not limited to:

• Perform daily room and bed inspections.
• Pack up and log items for AWOL residents.
• Escort clients to appointments.
• Assist in monitoring and developing residents' independent living skills.
• Monitor and track furniture.
• Perform nightly bed counts.
• Fill in for kitchen staff when necessary.
• Resolve conflicts between residents.
• Cover operations desk when necessary.
• Answer phones when necessary.
• Help maintain the cleanliness of the building.
• Monitor common areas to ensure proper usage.

Education/License:

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Food handlers certificate a plus.

Qualifications:

• 2 years of applicable experience in a shelter or residential setting.
• Passion for working with individuals and families in transitional housing.
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with others.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and submit required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of DHS requirements and protocols.
• Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion.
• Must be able to multitask with strong organizational skills.
• Bilingual is a plus.
