Job summary

Salvation Army Memphis Area Command is seeking a part-time Housing Assistant to support residents in a 24-hour residential facility. The role requires weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) from 12:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. with a 30-minute unpaid break, totaling 15 hours per week, in Memphis, TN.

You will supervise clients, maintain records, ensure confidentiality, provide crisis intervention, and coordinate with the supervisor to support daily activities and client morale.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of related work experience in a social service setting preferred.
• Valid State Driver License.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for:

Provides daily supervision, monitoring, reporting, and technical support services to clients in a residential facility; maintains appropriate records in addition to ongoing written and verbal communication with the supervisor in relationship to daily client activities; facilitates an emotional and physical environment conducive to enhancing positive client morale and stabilization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists and responds to inquiries from non-clients.
• Maintains and updates records of all program residents; completes assigned paperwork, documentation, and statistics as assigned.
• Follows the written policy and procedures for confidentiality in order to maintain the privacy of the residents.
• Provides necessary crisis intervention; ensures 24-hour monitoring of clients.

• Ability to exercise good judgment and make responsible decisions with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to exhibit personal integrity, mature judgment, and emotional stability suitable to the job.

• Work is performed in a normal office and transitional housing environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
