Eva’s Village in Paterson, NJ seeks a Residential Aide to monitor residents, maintain program logs, and support daily operations under the House Manager. You’ll answer phones, arrange transportation, and assist with intake while upholding trauma-informed and client-centered care principles.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent (Associate/Bachelor’s preferred), a valid driver’s license, and strong interpersonal skills. Experience in the field is valued.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent – Associate/Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Thorough knowledge of the 12-step program, AA, NA, and the biopsychosocial model of substance abuse/dependence.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to work independently and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Good interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor and perform duties effectively in stressful/emergency situations.
  • Must be able to maintain objectivity and deal diplomatically with clients and family members.
  • Must have at least one year experience in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Embodies Eva’s Village’s core values, voice, and tone in order to provide an exceptional and effective experience for our clients, funders, employees and volunteers.
  • Must be completely familiar with all rules of the program.
  • Maintains the sign-in/sign-out sheets.
  • Maintains activities log with NA/AA meetings, van, etc.
  • Maintains the communication book.
  • Responsible for answering the phone, relaying calls, and taking messages.
  • Responsible for mail distribution.
  • Inspects and makes sure that all work details assigned to the residents are completed.
  • Responsible for the security of the program. This includes following the visitor protocol and observing the camera.
  • Monitors and documents client behavior.
  • Must be flexible.
  • Responsible for all incidents concerning resident problems being reported promptly.
  • Promptly reports to the House Manager any problems concerning the van, maintenance, supplies or any household problems.
  • Interface with residents, referring their problems to the proper person resulting in the resident getting the assistance they need.
  • Attends mandatory monthly in-service and staff meetings.
  • Responsible for urine testing/breathalyzers and recording of tests and results.
  • Monitors and documents resident medication.
  • Reports all repairs and wear & tear to House Manager.
  • Responsible for weekly inspection of rooms.
  • Must be completely familiar with policy and procedures of the program.
  • Must be able to perform intake and orientation to the program for new clients.
  • Must be willing to learn client-oriented system of care. This includes the Client Centered Approach as well as the Trauma Informed Care Approach.
  • Serves as a liaison between the residents and House Managers.
  • Oversees periodic special work details.
  • Facilitates didactic/educational groups as assigned.
  • Serves as a role model.
  • Performs crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Responsible for the arrangement of transportation of residents to meetings, hospitals, etc. and if need be, may be asked to drive.
  • Must perform tasks delegated by the immediate supervisor within the scope of the policy and procedures manual.
