Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is seeking a dorm monitor at the Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria, OR. You will monitor students on residential floors, ensure compliance with Center rules, and foster a positive living environment that supports character development and safety.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent written and verbal communication, basic computer proficiency, the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and a valid driver license.

• Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30 pounds, and walk outside on uneven terrain during patrols.
• Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Foster a positive living environment and support character development.
• Document student activity and incidences and maintain logs.
• Transport students to and from recreation functions as required.
• Patrol dorms and grounds to ensure safety and order.

Schedule – Full Time, 8hr shifts, Prime/Swing Shift 3:00pm-12am or Night/Graveyard 11:30pm-8:30am

What you will be doing:

You’ll be responsible for monitoring students that live on residential floors to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of the Center. Fosters an atmosphere conducive to character development through the encouragement of favorable behavior patterns. Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance in the event of injury, illness, traumatic experience, and emotionalism; responsible for documenting student activity and incidences.

Essential Functions

• Direct and assist with dorm activities and dorm competitions as designated by supervisor.
• Help students deal with the daily stresses of dorm living and enlighten them to the perks of it.
• Prepare documentation including accountability of students and an activity log.
• Transport students to and from recreation functions, as required.
• Conduct the residential living class, as assigned.
• Develop and participate in a special interest group and perform quarterly property inventory, as required.
• Patrol and monitor dorm and grounds.

Education And Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency,
• Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds, and walk outside on uneven terrain in varying weather conditions during patrols
• Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
