Job summary

Community Housing Innovations, Inc. is seeking a part-time Resident Support Specialist for the Wading River location.

You will provide a safe, structured, and supervised environment for CHI residents and staff, coordinating and verifying client movement during tours and monitoring behavior throughout duty hours. The role requires excellent verbal and written English communication; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of experience in a related field preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual Spanish is a plus.
• Basic computer skills: MS Windows, MS Office, and internet usage.
• Ability to tour property, walk distances, and climb stairs.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility to residents, staff, and visitors by wearing a safety monitor vest, ID badge, and professional attire.
• Screen all clients and visitors entering the facility.
• Perform bag searches upon intake and as required.
• Ensure clients abide by facility, DSS, and OTDA policies.
• De-escalate potential crisis situations and document interventions.
• Conduct rounds throughout the facility including hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, and other common areas.
• Complete logs, incident reports, and all other required documentation.
• Perform administrative and receptionist duties at the operations/front desk.
• Monitor video surveillance cameras, fire prevention, detection alarms, and notification systems.
• Support running of fire drills; evacuate the building when necessary.
• Assist with room preparation and turnover for new clients.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning and office supplies; notify management of needs.
• Inform management of the site’s physical condition and potential repairs.
• Support afterschool/evening activities as needed.

WHAT DO I NEED?

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience working in related field preferred.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

CHI is looking for a part-time Resident Support Specialists (RSS) for our Wading River location. You will provide a safe, structured, and supervised environment for CHI residents and staff. The RSS coordinates and verifies client movement in the facility while also monitoring the client conduct and overall behavior during tour of duty. This is accomplished by performing the following functions:

• Maintain visibility to residents, staff, and visitors by wearing a safety monitor vest, ID badge, and professional attire.
• Screen all clients and visitors entering the facility.
• Perform bag searches upon intake and as required.
• Ensure clients abide by the facility, DSS, and OTDA policies and procedures.
• De-escalate potential crisis situations and document all interventions.
• Conduct rounds throughout the facility including hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, and other common areas.
• Complete logs, incident reports, and all other required documentation.
• Perform administrative and receptionist duties at the operations/front desk.
• Monitor video surveillance cameras, fire prevention, detection alarm, and notification system.
• Support the running of fire drills; evacuate the building when necessary, utilize fire safety procedures.
• Assist with room preparation and turnover for new clients.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning and office supplies and ensure proper distribution.
• Inform management of work site’s physical condition (i.e. dangerous conditions, possible repair needs, supply needs, etc.).
• Support afterschool/evening activities as needed.
