Job summary

CHIP is seeking a Resident Services Coordinator to plan and implement programs for residents at Cypress Family Apartments and Paradise Community Village in Paradise, CA. You will assess resident needs, design activities, recruit volunteers, and connect residents with community resources, traveling to Chico and other properties as needed.

The role requires evenings and weekends, a valid California driver’s license, and strong communication.

Job description

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

CHIP's Resident Services Program offers health, education, recreation, and technology activities along with civic and community engagement and leadership opportunities for the residents of our rental properties. The purpose of our Resident Services Program is to support our residents to maintain stable tenancy, pursue long-term goals, enhance their quality of life, and build community. Programming is offered by CHIP staff and in partnership with local agencies and volunteers. Resident Services is critical in fulfilling CHIP's mission to create affordable homeownership and quality rental housing in Northern California. CHIP does this by building and maintaining permanent housing that promotes stability, cultivates economic benefits, nurtures community, and empowers residents. CHIP envisions a North Valley region where everyone has a home and opportunity to thrive in healthy and inclusive communities. The Resident Services program works closely with CHIP's Property Management, Asset Management, and Rental Housing Development programs.

JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates and implements program activities for residents, assesses the needs of residents, collaborates with them in the design and implementation of a well-rounded activities program, and establishes linkages with community providers to utilize available resources. Recruits and supports program volunteers. Supports 2 rental properties in Paradise, California: Cypress Family Apartments (for 32 hours a week) and Paradise Community Village (for 8 hours a week). The position may also be responsible for serving other properties within CHIP’s 7-county service area (Butte, Glenn, Shasta, Tehama, Colusa, Sutter, and Yuba counties). Travel to CHIP’s main office in Chico and various rental properties is mandatory. Be prepared to commute. Mileage reimbursement per CHIP travel policy. Flexible schedule available. Some evenings and weekends are required. This position is not eligible for a remote or hybrid work schedule. This position is available for immediate hire and remains open until filled.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be a champion of CHIP’s mission and programs at every opportunity.
  • Work with site team, residents, and partner agencies to proactively develop and implement meaningful social, wellness, and educational program activities.
  • Ensure programming is culturally appropriate and meets the specific needs of the diverse populations served by CHIP.
  • Coordinate all phases of implementing activities and programs, including set-up and clean-up.
  • Support successful tenancy at CHIP properties.
  • Connect residents to community resources by; developing and maintaining partnerships with community-based supportive service providers; maintaining an up-to-date resources directory with all local service providers for resident use; and some case management (helping tenants with forms, applications, and questions as needed).
  • Promote community building at CHIP properties by encouraging resident participation in programming, services, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Recruit resident volunteers to become leaders in their communities as Volunteer Activity Coordinators.
  • Create outreach and marketing plans for each property. Assist with creating flyers, programs, announcements, videos, photo montages, social media postings, and other promotional materials related to Resident Services programs and events.
  • Serve as a liaison between the residents, other CHIP departments, and the community.
  • Work with the manager to develop, monitor, and evaluate activities and programs with input from residents and site staff to determine program direction. Conduct regular surveys/assessments with residents and site staff to measure impact.
  • Contribute to grant applications and reports.
  • Participate with the site team in setting and meeting property goals. Share knowledge of community resources with co-workers in resident services and property management.
  • Manage on-site resident services budget.
  • Maintain documentation and resident files, including regular reports for management.
  • Adhere to all applicable Federal and State regulations for confidentiality, HIPAA, and mandated reporting of suspected child or elder abuse.
  • All other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Ability to work with individuals of varied socioeconomic, racial/ethnic, educational, and physical characteristics/backgrounds. Lived experience is a plus.
  • Experience with program creation and implementation.
  • Ability to develop and maintain trusting and respectful relationships with residents and community providers.
  • Ability to analyze problems and create solutions within existing frameworks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Group facilitation skills and the ability to manage group dynamics.
  • Commitment to affordable housing, community building, and CHIP’s mission.
  • Ability to work closely with other CHIP programs, particularly the Property Management Department, to sustain high levels of coordination, efficiency, and an environment focused on overall goals.
  • Ability to work without constant direction and supervision while maintaining focus on overall goals.
  • Technologically proficient with various software programs related to videos, photos, messaging, marketing materials, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • College-level work in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Lived experience is a bonus.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle, a current valid California Driver's license, and be insurable under the criteria established by CHIP’s general liability carrier. Must provide current proof of insurance at the levels specified by the CHIP travel policy.
