Job summary

VOAMI Michigan is seeking Resident Specialists for its Detroit Veterans Housing Program. You will oversee residents, guests, volunteers, and staff, ensuring a safe, healthy experience while coordinating with case managers, kitchen staff, and facilities for daily operations.

Two years' experience in direct client care or security is required, along with strong crisis management knowledge, and excellent written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Two years of direct client care or security experience.
• Knowledge of crisis management interventions.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to react professionally in emergencies.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor clients and guests.
• Provide safe and ethical care according to policies.
• Coordinate client activities such as meals and check-in/out.
• Accept and document external donations.
• Greet and check-in external volunteers; ensure procedures are followed.
• Apply de-escalation tactics to manage crises.
• Document client activity in rounds and incident reports as needed.
• Log incidents per Critical Incident Reporting Policy.
• Establish rapport with client population; ensure safety and well-being.
• Provide access to medications and meals per schedule.
• Assist in emergency responses (911, Narcan, CPR, AED).
• Maintain security of facility and doors/windows/gates.
