Job summary

Hoyle Tanner & Associates, Inc. is seeking a motivated Resident Project Representative to serve as the on-site representative for construction projects in our New England Municipal Engineering Division, based out of Burlington, VT.

You will monitor construction activities, document progress, and verify compliance with plans and specifications. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients in the field, performing inspections, basic testing, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Associates/ BSCE or related field required.
• Certification or ability to become certified in OSHA 10 Construction and Confined Space for Construction, or HAZWOPER.
• 5-15 years of construction/inspection experience.
• Ability to read and decipher plans and specifications.
• Salary is contingent on experience.

Responsibilities

• Field observation and inspection of infrastructure projects under direct supervision of a Project Manager/Contract Administrator/Senior Resident Engineer.
• Record site observations in daily reports and report issues and discrepancies to supervisory personnel.
• Read and understand contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and special provisions.
• Conduct simple field testing of construction materials and report on test results.
• Produce simple drawings, tracings, maps, and technical computations to describe and report on observed construction operations.
• Use engineering tools such as transit level, rotary laser, GPS to measure and verify installed construction quantities.
• Be actively involved with the client and contractor in resolution of discrepancies or construction issues.
• Document observed field conditions and understand project schedule and sequence of activities.
• Process contractor progress payments for review and approval by supervisory personnel.
• Coordinate inspection of construction materials and understand test methods and interpretation of results.
• Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, and provide updates to maintain schedule.

Hoyle Tanner is seeking a motivated Resident Project Representative to serve as the on-site representative for upcoming construction projects in our New England Municipal Engineering Division. In this role, you will work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to monitor construction activities, document project progress, and verify compliance with plans and specifications. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being in the field, and is based out of our Burlington, VT office.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Field observation and inspection of infrastructure projects under the direct supervision of a Project Manager/Contract Administrator/Senior Resident Engineer

• Obtain a general understanding of the construction project schedule and the logical sequence of construction activities
• Process contractor progress payments for review and approval by supervisory personnel
• Coordinate inspection of construction materials and have a general understanding of test methods and interpretation of results
• Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, and provide updates and recommendations to your supervisor in maintaining schedule
