Job summary

Hoyle Tanner seeks a motivated Resident Project Representative to serve as the on-site lead for construction projects in our New England Municipal Engineering Division. Based in Burlington, VT, you will monitor activities, document progress, and verify conformance with plans and specifications.

You will work with project managers, contractors and clients, recording field observations, performing simple tests, and communicating issues to supervision while helping manage schedule and budget

Qualifications

• Associates or BSCE or related field required.
• Certification or ability to obtain OSHA 10 Construction and Confined Space or HAZWOPER.
• 5–15 years of construction/inspection experience.
• Ability to read and decipher plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Field observation and inspection under supervision of PM/Contract Administrator/Senior Resident Engineer.
• Record site observations in daily reports and escalate issues.
• Read contract plans, specs, submittals and special provisions.
• Conduct simple field testing of construction materials and report results.
• Produce drawings, tracings, maps and computations to describe field operations.
• Use surveying tools to measure quantities and verify installations.
• Coordinate with client and contractor to resolve discrepancies.
• Document observed field conditions and project schedule basics.
• Assist with budget understanding and provide updates to supervisor.

Job description

Hoyle Tanner is seeking a motivated Resident Project Representative to serve as the on-site representative for upcoming construction projects in our New England Municipal Engineering Division. In this role, you will work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to monitor construction activities, document project progress, and verify compliance with plans and specifications. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being in the field, and is based out of our Burlington, VT office.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Field observation and inspection of infrastructure projects under the direct supervision of a Project Manager/Contract Administrator/Senior Resident Engineer
• Record site observations in daily reports and report issues and discrepancies to supervisory personnel
• Read and understand contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and special provisions
• Conduct simple field testing of construction materials and report on test results
• Produce simple drawings, tracings, maps, and technical computations to describe and report on observed construction operations
• Use engineering tools such as transit level, rotary laser, GPS or others to measure and verify installed construction quantities
• Use good judgment and supervisory guidance for limited field changes according to prescribed policies and procedures and with input from direct supervisors
• Be actively involved with the client and contractor in resolution of any discrepancies or construction issues
• Document observed field conditions
• Obtain a general understanding of the construction project schedule and the logical sequence of construction activities
• Process contractor progress payments for review and approval by supervisory personnel
• Coordinate inspection of construction materials and have a general understanding of test methods and interpretation of results
• Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, and provide updates and recommendations to your supervisor in maintaining schedule

Requirements:

• Associates/ BSCE or related field
• Certification or ability to become certified in OSHA 10 Construction and Confined Space for Construction, or HAZWOPER

• Salary is contingent on experience
