• Associates/ BSCE or related field required.
• Certification or ability to become certified in OSHA 10 Construction and Confined Space for Construction, or HAZWOPER.
• 5-15 years of construction/inspection experience.
• Ability to read and decipher plans and specifications.
• Salary is contingent on experience.

Responsibilities

• Field observation and inspection of infrastructure projects under direct supervision.
• Record site observations in daily reports and report issues to supervisory personnel.
• Read and understand contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and special provisions.
• Conduct simple field testing of construction materials and report results.
• Produce simple drawings, tracings, maps, and computations to describe observed operations.
• Use tools such as transit level, rotary laser, GPS to measure quantities.
• Provide input on limited field changes per policies and procedures.
• Work with client and contractor to resolve discrepancies.
• Document observed field conditions
• Understand project schedule and sequence of activities
• Process contractor progress payments for review by supervision
• Coordinate inspection of materials and test methods
• Develop understanding of project budget and provide updates to supervisor

Hoyle Tanner is seeking a motivated Resident Project Representative to serve as the on-site representative for upcoming construction projects in our New England Municipal Engineering Division. In this role, you will work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to monitor construction activities, document project progress, and verify compliance with plans and specifications. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being in the field, and can be based out of our Manchester, NH or Portsmouth, NH office.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Field observation and inspection of infrastructure projects under the direct supervision of a Project Manager/Contract Administrator/Senior Resident Engineer
• Record site observations in daily reports and report issues and discrepancies to supervisory personnel
• Read and understand contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and special provisions
• Conduct simple field testing of construction materials and report on test results
• Produce simple drawings, tracings, maps, and technical computations to describe and report on observed construction operations
• Use engineering tools such as transit level, rotary laser, GPS or others to measure and verify installed construction quantities
• Use good judgment and supervisory guidance for limited field changes according to prescribed policies and procedures and with input from direct supervisors
• Be actively involved with the client and contractor in resolution of any discrepancies or construction issues
• Document observed field conditions
• Obtain a general understanding of the construction project schedule and the logical sequence of construction activities
• Process contractor progress payments for review and approval by supervisory personnel
• Coordinate inspection of construction materials and have a general understanding of test methods and interpretation of results
• Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, and provide updates and recommendations to your supervisor in maintaining schedule
