Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Resident Project Representative I to support HDR’s Transportation activities in Boston.

You will read and interpret construction drawings, maintain daily records, review materials for contract compliance, and assist with audits and closeout while coordinating with senior engineers and inspectors. Ideal candidates hold an Engineering/Construction degree with multidisciplinary project experience, and an EIT/PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or equivalent.
  • Experience on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Sponsorship (visa) for US employment is not available.
  • Team-oriented and able to work in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of the contractor's activities and of labor, equipment and materials used.
  • Review construction materials for contract compliance.
  • Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance.
  • Attend and/or chair construction progress meetings.
  • Observe installation and acceptance testing of completed equipment and systems.
  • Identify nonconforming work and develop punchlists for correction.
  • Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance.
  • Assist with project audit/closeout.
  • Supervise junior Resident Project Representatives and construction inspectors.

Resident Project Representative I
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
  • Maintain accurate daily records of the contractor's daily activities and the work performed, and of the labor, equipment and materials used
  • Review construction materials for Contract compliance
  • Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance
  • Attend and/or chair construction progress meetings
  • Conduct observations of the installation and acceptance testing of completed equipment and systems
  • Identify nonconforming work, develop project punchlists and maintain until correctedDevelop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance
  • Assist with project audit/closeout
  • Work under general supervision of a more-senior Resident Project Representative or Design Project Manager
  • Supervise and direct the activities of junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultants
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Previous construction experience with a consulting firm
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • Ability to problem solve and provide possible solutions to the engineer
  • Local candidates preferred

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
  • Must have a fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction
  • Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position
