Job summary

Pavilion Healthcare is seeking a Cook at our Ottawa, IL facility to prepare and serve resident meals with proper food handling and safety techniques, ensuring meals meet nutritional guidelines and residents are treated with respect. The role requires reading recipes, preparing meals in large quantities, and coordinating with dietary staff.

A High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years' experience in hospital or skilled nursing food service are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Able to read recipes and convert ingredients for different serving sizes.
• Able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.

Responsibilities

• Reviews menus prior to preparation of food.
• Inspects special diet trays to assure correct diet is served.
• Completes forms, reports, and submits to management.
• Coordinates meal service with other departments.
• Works with culinary director and implements changes as required.
• Ensures dietary procedures follow policies.
• Maintains and files menus per policies.
• Establishes food service production lines to ensure meals are prepared on time.
• Processes diet changes from nursing/dietary staff.
• Takes pride in preparation and presentation of meals.
• Other duties as assigned.
