Job summary

Riverside Lifelong Health & Rehabilitation Mathews in Mathews, VA is seeking a Cook Assistant to support the Food Production Manager and Sous Chef. You will read recipes, prep lists and menus, ensure timely meal service for residents and guests, and help maintain safety and sanitation in the dining area.

You’ll work to meet dietary restrictions, coordinate with the team, and help minimize waste while following policy and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Healthcare food service experience preferred.
• Allergen Awareness Certification within 180 days.
• Food Handlers or Food Protection Manager certification within 30–180 days.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow recipes, prep lists, labels and menus.
• Ensure adequate resources and timely meal service for residents and guests.
• Maintain proper use of kitchen equipment and weights/measurements.
• Keep areas clean, sanitized, and compliant with safety regulations.
• Support dietary restrictions and therapeutic menus as directed.
