Job summary

DuPage County Care Center is seeking a part-time Life Enrichment Aide to provide leisure activities for residents. The role focuses on direct interaction and planning with residents on an assigned basis, supporting wellbeing through engaging programs.

The position is not eligible for benefits or paid time off. A post-offer physical and pre-employment background check are required. Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED, with at least six months in recreation or related settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Six months experience in recreation, education, working with seniors or the developmentally disabled.

Responsibilities

• Assists to proactively determine and the leisure needs of the residents.
• Assists with planning and conducting appropriate unit based, group and 1:1 leisure activities.
• Assists with providing appropriate communication tools and interventions to meet care plan goals.
• Decorates assigned areas to reflect the current seasons, holidays, or upcoming special events which contribute to well-being.
• Provides individualized attention and encouragement in the involvement of activities.
• Assists with in-house transportation, feeding, hydration and other personal needs of the residents.
• Assists in the maintenance and storage of equipment and supplies for recreational activities.
• Documents attendance, as well as progress toward achievement of goals for individualized resident activities.
• Provides appropriate interventions to lessen wandering and behavioral issues.
• Participates in fundraising activities related to the department.
• Participates in facility-wide quality improvement initiatives and projects.
