Job summary

Lamar University is seeking a Complex Director to oversee residence life operations, safety, and student development for one or more halls. The role is live-in with a renewable contract up to four years, ending July 15 each term.

Requires supervision of RA staff, programming oversight, and strong compliance with policy and safety protocols. The position involves crisis response, facilities coordination, and collaboration with campus offices to support student success and housing operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• One year of paraprofessional or professional experience in higher education residence life.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, supervise, schedule and evaluate RA and desk assistants.
• Conduct staff meetings, development meetings, and training sessions.
• Manage duty schedules and staff recruitment/selection processes.
• Advise Residence Hall Association and assist leadership development.
• Maintain active presence in assigned communities and adjudicate conduct.
• Oversee day-to-day residence hall operations and occupancy records.
• Coordinate hall openings/closings, room assignments, and changes.
• Ensure compliance with policies and reporting requirements.
• Participate in departmental committees and staff meetings.
• Conduct facility inspections and coordinate repairs with Facilities Mgmt.
• Coordinate on-call crises response and emergency preparedness.
• Assist with summer housing, orientation, conferences and special projects.
