Job summary

Los Alamos Wellness & Rehabilitation seeks an experienced Activity Director to plan, organize and implement programs meeting social, spiritual, intellectual and physical needs of residents. You will develop therapeutic recreation services aligned with the care plan and coordinate a monthly activity calendar.

The role requires accreditation as an Activity Director, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and licensure/registration.

Qualifications

• Accreditation as a Certified Activity Director and completion of state-approved training.
• Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy or related field; state licensure/registration required.
• Minimum one year as an Activity Director in long-term care.
• Two years of social/recreational programs experience in health care within last five years.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements comprehensive therapeutic recreation programs for psycho-social, physical, and cognitive needs.
• Assesses, selects, organizes and implements recreational services to meet residents’ needs and interests.
• Develops and delivers activity/recreational programming to promote residents’ opportunities for engaging in normal life activities and maintain functioning.
• Completes the MDS activity sections and attends Resident Care Plan Meetings; updates progress per center policy.
• Plans monthly calendars of activities and posts them in the center.
• Coordinates an effective Volunteer Program and staff continuing education.
• Monitors attendance and participation daily and adjusts programs as needed.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy or related area

Licensed or registered either nationally or by the State in which practicing
