Job summary

Brigham House in Gardner, MA is seeking an Activities Assistant who will lead and support resident programs to enrich their lives and advance an active aging lifestyle.

You will organize and offer diverse recreational activities, assist in planning events, keep schedules, and help engage new residents while maintaining records per state requirements. This position is non-exempt and requires teamwork with the Director of Activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 3–6 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information clearly in one-on-one or small groups.
• Must have completed a Criminal Background check for unlicensed employees per state regulation.
• Must provide a medical certification confirming freedom from communicable disease including TB at hire and annually.

Responsibilities

• Leads assigned Activity programs.
• Offers diversified recreational activities with supervision for each activity.
• Develops programs for residents, including for those confined to rooms.
• Engages and motivates residents to participate in programs.
• Maintains schedule of events and informs residents of upcoming activities.
• Greet new residents and integrate them into activities with others with similar interests.
• Assists in planning parties and seasonal decorations; plans monthly birthday parties.
• Maintains records of activities, participation levels, and state-required information.
• Assists Director of Activities with volunteers and may cover reception desk as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
