Job summary

Wynwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the Activities Department in running daily resident activities and planning a diverse calendar of events.

You will provide respectful care, encourage residents decisions about medical care, assist with calendars, set up activity spaces, recruit volunteers, and participate in departmental meetings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; strong interest in art, music, or helping the elderly.

Responsibilities

• Provides considerate respectful care focused upon the residents’ individual needs.
• Affirms residents’ right to make decisions regarding their medical care.
• Demonstrates ability to obtain and interpret information for residents of varying ages.
• Demonstrates understanding of care needs based on residents’ age.
• Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development relevant to the job.
• Completes life-span education as appropriate.
• Responsible for the care of facility pets.
• Maintains and updates daily Reality Orientation calendars and monthly calendars.
• Follows monthly calendars to provide scheduled programs.
• Sets up/cleans activity rooms and supply closets for safety and participation.
• Decorates areas to promote awareness of seasons, holidays, and events.
• Attends IDCP meetings and contributes observations at staff meetings.
• Keeps attendance records for activities where applicable.
• Provides instructions to volunteers and assists in recruiting volunteers.

Education
