Job summary

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Group Counselor for our inpatient detox and residential facility in North Chesterfield, VA. You will lead group therapy, provide psychoeducation, and help clients build healthy coping strategies in a supportive setting.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field, with at least one year in the treatment industry, and Virginia licensure (CSAC). Recovery-oriented, compassionate professionals are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or related field preferred.
• Min. one year experience in treatment industry preferred.
• Licensure to practice as a clinician in Virginia (CSAC) is required.
• If in recovery, a minimum one-year period of sustained sobriety is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups tailored to client needs.
• Assist clients in developing coping skills and recovery tools.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to monitor client progress and challenges.
• Escalate significant concerns to Clinical Director when needed.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions and client charts.
• Ensure all clinical assessments and charting are completed.

Now Hiring a Group Counselor for our new inpatient detox and residential facility in North Chesterfield, VA!

What You'll Do

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client's challenges and needs
• Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools
• Collaborate consistently with clinical staff to keep track of client challenges and progress
• Escalate any significant client concerns to Clinical Director
• Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions conducted
• Ensure all clinical assessments and individual client charting is completed

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or related field preferred
• Min. one year experience in treatment industry preferred
• Valid licensure necessary to practice as a clinician in this state- CSAC
• If in recovery, a minimum one-year period of sustained sobriety is required.
• Excellent interpersonal, observational, and communication skills
• Strong presence and sound judgement
