Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Construction Engineering.
• California Civil Engineer registration required.
• Knowledge of Greenbook and Standard Plans for Public Works Construction.
• Familiarity with Caltrans Standard Specifications/Plans.
• Knowledge of Cal/OSHA Construction Safety Orders.
• Ability to interpret plans, specs and contract documents.
• Experience with Caltrans Local Assistance Procedures Manual.
• Experience as Resident Engineer on at least three major road/bridge projects.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Ability to identify problems and propose solutions.
• Experience on at least three bridge/road projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction inspection and on-site management per contract documents.
• Prepare and process change orders, daily logs, and working day statements; collect records for payment.
• Arrange materials testing and construction staking with Public Works staff.
• Respond to inquiries from the public, officials and other agencies.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Project Management Division III and Public Works staff.
