At HNTB, you can create a meaningful career while building communities that matter. We have over a century of delivering solutions for complex infrastructure projects nationwide. Join our growing team of employee-owners during this exciting time.

This role involves overall field management of HNTB's contracts, administration, and coordination on diverse projects, primarily focusing on UDOT Construction Management. Responsibilities include monitoring staff activities for contractual compliance, providing technical leadership, reviewing drawings and specifications for constructability, and representing projects at meetings. Typically, this role manages projects up to $10M in construction value and plays a key role in pursuing mini-mega projects.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop project scope and fee quotations; assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts following HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
  • Coordinate project activities, establish priorities, and manage staff. Prepare daily activity reports, monitor contractor progress against schedules, and resolve technical issues in collaboration with architects and engineers.
  • Oversee project controls, review contractor schedules, and ensure submittals conform to plans and specifications.
  • Implement HNTB's project delivery plan using the Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA). Lead project management planning, supervise teams, and resolve non-compliant work.
  • Interpret and enforce contract plans and specifications, develop change order estimates, negotiate costs, and document changes.
  • Maintain cost and quality control within the discipline.
  • Assist with business development, build client relationships, and lead proposal and presentation efforts for strategic projects, utilizing HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA).
  • Potentially handle recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of construction staff, including performance reviews and succession planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • All jurisdictional certificates.

What You'll Bring:

  • Proven success in delivering smaller projects on time, on budget, with high quality and client satisfaction. Experience in risk and change management.
  • Leadership experience managing small teams or tasks with minimal subconsultants.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and systems.
  • Ability to interface effectively with clients and department personnel.
  • Technical guidance skills and experience in UDOT construction management as a Resident Engineer.
  • Leadership skills to develop and mentor junior staff.

What We Prefer:

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or NICET Level III certification.
  • Experience with UDOT project delivery systems like Masterworks, Projectwise, eComply, and ePM.
