AI Engineers, Inc. (AIE) is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee railroad project construction and inspection in Connecticut and New York, working with CTDOT, MNR, Amtrak, LIRR, and similar clients.

The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and coordination with design staff and contractors. Ideal candidates have a PE license in CT or NY and 8+ years of resident engineering experience on railroad projects, along with familiarity with FRA standards and state

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 8+ years in resident engineering and inspection on railroad projects (MNR, Amtrak, LIRR).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Connecticut or New York.
• CCM or NICET IV certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with FRA, MNR, Amtrak, LIRR standards and railroad specifications.
• Knowledge of Connecticut and New York regulations and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day construction and inspection activities for railroad projects, ensuring contractor adherence to goals (cost, schedule, quality).
• Provide leadership to construction inspection staff and ensure accurate daily reports.
• Act as liaison between contractors, design staff, and stakeholders for RFIs and shop drawings.
• Conduct technical reviews of construction plans, specifications, and project modifications for constructability.
• Manage contractor payment process and maintain budgetary control.
• Ensure site safety compliance and coordination with local agencies and clients.
• Monitor contractor performance and resolve schedule/quality issues.
• Prepare and submit detailed reports and deliverables as required by the client.

• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage the inspection duties in the field.

• Considerable knowledge of Architecture, Engineering, Construction inspection process and procedures.
• Ability to meet deadlines and complete work in a timely manner.
• Ability and willingness to travel to work sites.
