Job summary

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of construction engineering/inspection experience.
  • 10-hour OSHA certification.
  • Valid US driver's license.
  • MaineDOT/municipal experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of MaineDOT Standard Specifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead inspectors or act as a solo inspector for construction inspection of bridge/highway projects; document work with daily reports, photos, and sketches.
  • Oversee documentation of construction inspection, including pay estimates, change orders, daily reports, quantity checks, meeting minutes, material certifications.
  • Ensure work complies with specifications and project plans; apply company policies and standards to the work.
  • Maintain project documentation and communicate with all levels of the project team.
  • Coordinate activities on the site and resolve problems related to the work.
  • Lead other construction inspectors, providing coaching and direction as needed.

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Resident Engineer to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team in Maine!

In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative, field-focused group supporting transportation, bridge, utility, and municipal construction projects across the region. Our team partners closely with clients, contractors, and local agencies to solve challenges in real time, uphold quality and safety standards, and help bring important public infrastructure improvements from plan to completion.

Responsibilities


  • Ability to lead inspectors or act as a solo inspector for the construction inspection of bridge and/or highway projects including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches.

  • Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, material certifications, etc.

  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with specifications.

  • Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisive decisions.

  • Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project.

  • Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.

  • Lead other construction inspectors; providing coaching, mentoring, and direction as needed.


Qualifications


  • High school diploma/GED required.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering field preferred.

  • 6+ years of construction engineering/inspection experience required.

  • 10-hour OSHA certification required.

  • Valid US driver's license required.

  • Leadership skills, decision making, and attention to detail.

  • Previous experience working with/for MaineDOT and/or municipal clients as a Resident Engineer.

  • Knowledge and understanding of MaineDOT Standard Specifications.

  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.


Compensation: $45.00 to $50.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to work outdoors on project sites for extended periods of time and in various weather conditions required.
