Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Resident Engineer to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team in Maine. You will lead inspectors or act as a solo inspector for bridge and highway projects, document work with reports, photos, and sketches, and ensure work conforms to specifications.

You will oversee project documentation, coordinate on-site activities, mentor junior inspectors, and interact with clients and municipal partners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering field preferred.
• 6+ years of construction engineering/inspection experience required.
• 10-hour OSHA certification required.
• Valid US driver's license required.
• Leadership, decision making, and attention to detail.
• Previous experience working with MaineDOT and/or municipal clients as a Resident Engineer.
• Knowledge and understanding of MaineDOT Standard Specifications.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Lead inspectors or act as a solo inspector for construction inspection of bridge and/or highway projects including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches.
• Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, material certifications, etc.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with specifications.
• Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisive decisions.
• Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project.
• Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.
• Lead other construction inspectors; providing coaching, mentoring, and direction as needed.

Compensation: $45.00 to $50.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
