Job summary

Ramboll is seeking a Resident Engineer to oversee construction projects from start to finish within the Water US, Construction Management Division. You will lead field teams, apply standard engineering techniques, and ensure compliance with contract documents.

You will join a collaborative, development-focused environment with three levels of Resident Engineers and opportunities across the Mid-Atlantic, New York City, and the Northeast. Ramboll supports growth and values diverse perspectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
  • Associate’s degree or technical certification with 4+ years engineering experience.
  • Ability to make decisions affecting cost and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction personnel to ensure procedures and materials follow contract documents.
  • Direct Construction Superintendents, Project Managers, and Foremen throughout the project.
  • Apply technical knowledge to ensure engineering requirements are met.
  • Perform engineering calculations to assess pump performance, concrete mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical adequacy.
  • Prepare cash flow calculations from critical path schedules and values for budgeting and progress tracking.

Job Description
Your new role

As our new Resident Engineer, you will engage in various levels of complexity construction related projects which will require the application of standard construction techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related construction/engineering tasks. You must be capable of collaborating and making evaluations and interpretations, exercising independent judgment selecting and applying standard engineering/construction techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design adaptations and modifications.

Qualifications
Your key responsibilities will be:
  • Utilizing knowledge acquitted in obtaining engineering or construction management degree to analyze the engineering concepts of a project.
  • Overseeing construction personnel to ensure construction procedures, methods and materials follow those specified in the contract documents. Directing Construction Superintendents, Project Managers, Foreman, etc. to comply with contract documents throughout the duration of a project.
  • Utilizing knowledge of technical components of a project to ensure those components meet the engineering requirements of the contract documents.
  • Performing engineering calculations throughout the duration of the project to determine such requirements as pump performance, mechanics of concrete, pipeline hydraulics, and electrical adequacy.
  • Preparing cash flow calculations from a critical path schedule and schedule of values in order for the project owner to budget total project cost and to monitor contractors progress and scheduled completion.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
  • -or-
  • Associate’s degree or technical school certification in science, math, architecture, computing, technical drafting or other relevant technical curriculum, and 4+ years of qualifying engineering experience working in the engineering/design field.
  • Ability to make decisions affecting the cost and performance of the work.
Additional skills, certifications, and qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:
  • Advanced degree.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Municipal and State Agency experience.
  • CCM, USACE CQM, CCCA, NICET certifications.

Your new team

You will be part of the Water US, Construction Management Division with a focus on supporting the delivery of Ramboll’s municipal water construction projects. This position can support work in 3 of our major areas: Mid-Atlantic, New York City, and the Northeast.

In addition, there are 3 levels of Resident Engineers, based on experience and qualifications.

Salary Transparency

At Ramboll, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices that support our people and our purpose of creating sustainable societies. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $72,000 to $126,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
